Fáilte! I’m Ireland’s first-ever freestyle mogul skier, competing on the World Cup circuit and chasing my dream of qualifying for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Games.
In my 2023/24 rookie season, I made Irish history not only by debuting on the FIS Freestyle World Cup circuit but also by claiming finalist results at Deer Valley and Alpe d’Huez.
For me, mogul skiing embodies my values: grit and excellence, while constantly pushing boundaries. Even a girl from a nation with no snow can be part of a movement that raises the bar for women’s sport. That’s the fire behind my 2025/26 season goals of the Olympic start gate, and competing the higher-difficulty trick of a back-full. Welcome to the journey of making the impossible happen.
Meet Me
I didn’t grow up in the mountains. The ‘Sunshine State’ of Queensland, Australia, was where I spent my childhood. Skiing was a family holiday, not a career path. However, my father, a retired sportsman himself, instilled in my siblings and me a passion for sports and a commitment to hard work in all things, so our first family ski holiday quickly evolved into what is now my full-time pursuit – the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. Mogul skiing is the perfect fit for my passion for human performance, as it incorporates a multitude of athletic elements—technical focus, speed, acrobatics, and the mental skills required to approach high-risk scenarios.
So at the age of 14 (considered a latecomer to the sport), I entered the world of mogul skiing. By 16, I was competing. By 21, I’d become Ireland’s first World Cup mogul skier. No national ski program, no blueprint, no snow — just resilience, creativity, and a stubborn belief that I could catch my fellow skiers who many had already been on the World Cup tour for years. Representing Ireland connects me not only to my heritage but to a community that thrives on lifting each other up.
Off the slopes, I’m a pre-medical science student at the University of Arizona. I completed my MCAT exam this fall, a significant milestone on my long-term pathway towards practicing medicine. I envision carrying the lessons I’ve learned from moguls—performance under pressure, resilience, presence, and taking calculated risks—into a career caring for critically ill patients.
If I’m not ‘nerd-ing’ out, you’ll find me hiking, cooking, or spending time with friends.
My Career
When most of my peers were already racking up state and national titles, I was still figuring out my first mogul course. That late start could have been a disadvantage — but it’s become my edge. It forced me to learn fast, adapt under pressure, and find creative ways to close the gap. Since then, my competitive results have earned me an Olympic Solidarity Grant, representing the IOC’s belief in my potential and embodiment as an ambassador.
Looking forward, my 2025/26 season is about more than Olympic qualification. It’s about raising my bar — multiplying the difficulty of my run by adding a back full and back-truck driver jump. While the back full is common in men’s competition, it is only beginning to emerge in the women’s field — and I would be honoured to help drive this movement in female mogul skiing.
But results tell only part of the story. Competing for a small nation means no national ski program, no built-in resources, and a lot of self-funding. Every flight, every training camp, every competition fee is independently sourced, compared to most other international teams that have access to numerous resources.
My skiing ambition may have taken flight in sunny Brisbane, but its roots lie firmly in Irish tradition. Though I lack the accent, Irish ancestry runs deep in the Dooley household. My late grandmother was a prominent figure in Australia’s Irish community, organizing Queensland’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. I recall with pride riding in a horse-drawn cart, through streets with Gaelic names, and the post-parade celebrations at my grandfather’s Irish pubs. Choosing to represent Ireland felt like coming home—a sentiment strengthened by the unwavering support of Sport Ireland and the National Olympic Committee, a close-knit community that celebrates sporting excellence at home and abroad.
